ICPR 2024 Abstract

Interrogating Integration

This symposium aims to provide a broad and balanced view of integration in psychedelic therapy.  Integration is considered

An aspect largely been ignored by these critical voices is ‘integration’. Integration is ill-defined but broadly refers to the time after a psychedelic experience when an individual seeks to make meaning of this event. Integration is widely considered to be of key importance in securing success in psychedelic therapy. The process typically occurs soon after the psychedelic experience. Yet there is little definition of what integration should entail, who should perform it, or what the end goal is. It is widely assumed that integration is beneficial and it has been suggested that psychedelic therapy without integration is ‘unethical’.
