Isabel Wießner
Speaker Bio
Isabel Wießner received her B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Konstanz, where she investigated the effects of deep relaxation and sleep on memory and MEG brain activity. During her M.Sc. on Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Jena, Germany, she examined the effects of hypnosis on pain perception and EEG brain activity. For her PhD, she went to the University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, where she led Brazilian’s first double-blind placebo-controlled human study on LSD and examined its effects on consciousness, thinking, creativity, cognition, psychotic- and therapeutic-like experiences. Currently, she is working as postdoc at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, Brazil, where she is investigating the effects of ayahuasca and DMT on EEG brain activity.
