Theoretical Background and Rationale: Treatment with psychedelic compounds are more and more proving to be a treatment option for various psychiatric disorders. On the other hand stigma in the population on the use of psychedelics might prevent patients from reaching out for help. 

Research Question and Hypothesis: To investigate the perspectives of MIND panel members regarding treatment with psychedelic compounds and possible societal stigma and barriers. 

Methods and Analysis: A questionnaire developed together with MIND on demographics, psychiatric symptoms, previous psychedelic use, attitudes towards treatment with psychedelics. This questionnaire was filled in by 318 members of the MIND panel which are (former) recipients of mental health care and relatives.  

Main Findings: A large part of the responders either strongly supports (36.5%), supports (33%) or has a neutral attitude (21%) on the treatment of psychiatric disorders with psychedelics. An overwhelming majority (88%) supports further research on psychedelic treatment. Patients were mostly interested in research on side effects (72%), how the support during the treatment looks like (72%), and what the chances are on the improvement of quality of life (62%). Further analysis might show factors that influence the acceptance of psychedelic treatment.
 A majority of the participants either strongly agrees (10%) or agrees (43%) that if they were to receive treatment with psychedelics, society might have negative opinions on this.

Conclusion: A large part of the responders (strongly) supports treatment with psychedelics and further research on this topic. Among respondents, there still seem to be perceptions of stigma in society.
